About HotelsViewer
HotelsViewer answers one question: which hotel room do you book to actually get the view?
Why the room name matters
A hotel next to a landmark can sell rooms that face it and rooms that face a courtyard, at the same address and often at a similar price. The difference usually sits in a few words of the room category name, like “High Floor”, “Balcony” or “Eiffel View”, and booking sites show those names in small print. We collect them, compare them, and tell you which category to book and which look-alikes to skip.
How we check a view
For every hotel we read the room categories on the hotel's own site and on booking sites, and we copy the names exactly as they are sold. Then we give the hotel one of three labels:
- Pictured: A published photo, captioned as the view from that room category, shows the view.
- A published photo, captioned as the view from that room category, shows the view.
- Listed: The hotel sells a room category with the view in its name or description.
- The hotel sells a room category with the view in its name or description.
- Reported: Travel guides or guests report the view, but no room category is sold with it.
- Travel guides or guests report the view, but no room category is sold with it.
Every entry shows the month of the check and the sources we used. Guides and travel sites are named when a detail comes from them, for example when a guide reports that a view is partial.
What we don't do
- We don't take payment from hotels to be listed, and a hotel that pays us nothing is listed the same way.
- We don't use photos we have no right to use. Our photos come with a free licence or from the people who hold the rights, and each one is credited where it appears.
- We don't promise a view. Hotels rename categories and assign rooms on the day, so check the category on the booking page before you pay.
Who is behind it
HotelsViewer is an independent project. It isn't owned by a hotel, a hotel group or a booking site.
How the site makes money
Some links may earn us a commission when you book, at no extra cost to you. It never changes which rooms we list. Read our affiliate disclosure for the details.
Spotted a mistake?
Room names change. If you stayed in one of these rooms and the view was different, or a category has been renamed, write to contact@hotelsviewer.com. We check every report and update the page.
